Let me deal with the trolls first.
"You didn"t grow any hair."
In all honesty, I can"t say with certainty that any dormant follicles began growing in patches of bare scalp. There may not have been any actual regrowth in that sense. And there may have been in some spots. I was not able to examine my scalp to such a fine degree. Clearly, the existing hair changed in quality from thin, brittle, wispy strands to full, thick, healthy strands. The quality of the existing hair changed and looks thicker which gives the appearance of more hair. I believe that the appearance of regrowth in the after photos is in part the result of some of the fine, weak hairs that were previously invisible to the camera growing into mature hairs.
"Your hair is longer in the after shots"
No it isn"t. It is the exact same haircut. I know because I have cut my hair with a Flowbee for over three years. Even if I got the Flowbee settings wrong and my hair in the after shots were a half inch longer (at most), it wouldn"t make any difference. In the past when my hair was too long and I needed a haircut it didn"t look any thicker. It just looked like thin, wispy, brittle hairs that were too long and combed over bare scalp. Longer hair didn"t look like thicker hair. For evidence see older videos on my channel: "Pie Eating Contest" and "Yang Tai Chi 24 Form (with helper)."
"The lighting is different in the after shots."
I tried my best to get the most accurate photos and video in the exact same conditions with my cheap digital camera I bought off of Ebay. Same room, same lighting, same positions, same camera. If you have never tried to take pictures of your own head from various, awkward angles and then tried to duplicate them exactly a year later, you have no idea how difficult that is. This was the best that I could do.
Also, I have seen myself recently in high definition video and my hair looks much, much better than in this poor quality video. But it would not have been fair to do the after shots in high def; it would not have been an accurate comparison. I stuck with the camera I had last year so the before and after comparison would be as accurate as possible. If there are any discrepancies it was not deliberate.
"Your hair is a different color in the after shots."
It seems to be. I did notice after a few months of laser use that my hair seemed to get slightly darker. It might have just changed color, it might be because it is thicker, it might be the result of less light shining through and reflecting off of my scalp, or it might be due to less scalp redness affecting my hair color. Or a combination of those. I don"t know. But again, it wasn"t anything deliberate on my part.
"You didn"t regrow your hairline."
No, I didn"t. You can"t have everything.
"You are vain. Why do you even care about your hair?"
I once shaved my head and I was happy with how I looked. I wouldn"t mind being completely bald. But I wasn"t completely bald. I was in between where I had too much hair to be bald, but not enough hair to look good. As an acquaintance once put it: "You have full coverage, but it just doesn"t look right." Being bald is fine, but I had too much hair left to give up on it for good. For me: Bald looks good. Full hair looks good. In between looks ugly. So maybe I am vain.
"Your hair looks good, but you"re still fat."
Fuck you.
"These changes aren"t impressive. I got better results than you using X."
Who asked you? Go make your own video then.
"It is impossible for lasers to affect hair quality because laser light cannot penetrate the skin."
I work in physical therapy and I have used lasers to help reduce the inflammation and speed the healing of injured body parts for many patients. Lasers can penetrate and affect the skin. Period. (Regardless of what some dishonest doctors might claim.) To deny this fact is to be in denial of an overwhelming volume of clinical evidence that demonstrates otherwise. Whether or not lasers can directly stimulate hair growth is another argument. I do not know that for sure.. But I know from my own experience that my scalp now has less redness, less itching, less flaking, probably less inflammation, and probably more circulation than before I used the laser. Anyone who still uses the above trolling argument can just not bother using lasers and passively turn his cranium over to some scalp-hacking Dr. Giggles.
In all, I am happy with the results. The materials cost me less than $350.00 US. It was a fun project which has positively impacted my appearance. I didn"t use any drugs or special shampoos (aside from Nizoral dandruff shampoo about twice a week.) Otherwise I don"t even use shampoo or conditioner. I just wash my hair with soap.
