If you suspect thyroid disorder, have been told you have it, or even if you"ve been treated for it, you are likely missing the underlying cause, which may be causing you harm. Weight gain, hair loss, or low body temperature? Perhaps you"ve even had lab work showing some thyroid dysfunction, or maybe you"ve been treated with little to no success? It"s important to understand the intimate connection between your thyroid function and your adrenal gland function.

Your thyroid gland is your body"s engine, so to speak. Your adrenal glands act as the gas and oil for that engine. Most doctors may recognize the slowed engine, and treat the thyroid dysfunction first (and maybe even with some temporary success). Without addressing the main, underlying underlying adrenal dysfunction, however, this approach will be temporary at best, and likely even harmful. This approach cranks up the body"s engine, without ensuring there"s enough oil and gas to fuel it, which results in obvious problems of burning out the engine.

In this video, Dr. Neville explains how these two major players of your endocrine system react when your body is under chronic stress; there is an inextricable connection. In anyone with suspected or proven thyroid dysfunction, the adrenals should be assessed and treated first, and then, if still necessary, the thyroid function can be addressed.
