d-LIVER is an EC funded project developing technologies to help improve the quality of life and treatment of patients with advanced liver disease. d-LIVER is being carried out at a time when there is an increasing number of patients who are affected by liver disease, largely due to the results of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), Alcoholic Liver Disease (ALD) and viral hepatitis. One component of d-LIVER is a home monitoring system which be used to test blood and other parameters regularly to allow the early identification of episodes of deterioration. In this video, Prof Dave Jones of Newcastle University and two patients with liver disease describe the potential benefits of d-LIVER home monitoring.
